Welcome. I hope you enjoy the photos.

My name is Carol Anderson.

I have lived in the Tingwall Valley in Shetland all my life, having moved across the field from my parents when I got married in 1975. It is a green fertile valley with two lochs lying beneath the heather clad hills. I am blessed to be able to call this home.

The lifestyle in Shetland is quite laid back and relaxed. There is freedom to walk wherever you want to as long as you are considerate and always close gates etc. It is an island of rugged beauty with beautiful coastline, lovely sandy beaches, an array of wild flowers during the short summer, large colonies of seabirds, seals, otters (if you can find them!) and a unique light that changes constantly. In the winter months it can be windy which leads to spectacular seas and also there is chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

Someone once said to me, "I have never been anywhere that can be so grey or so blue". As the large expanse of water reflects the sky there are many contrasts in light. A photographers paradise.

I have been taking photo's on and off for many years, but over the past few years have taken it up again a little more seriously.

Most of my photos are taken in Shetland. I hope you enjoy them.

I am always learning and hopefully will always be improving my photography.
